Professor Dr. Md. Nasiruddin was born in 1st January 1973, Mehendigonj, Barishal, Bangladesh. He is a distinguished academic, researcher and higher education leader. He received the prestigious Dean of the Year 2025 award from the London School of Digital Business (UK). He served as Dean at the National University, Bangladesh (2017–2024), where he led transformative initiatives including the Academic Master Plan 2023–2033 and a national Blended Learning Roadmap. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he oversaw the production of 17,500 online lectures and introduced 12 skill-based postgraduate diploma programs. He also established the Institute of Information Studies at Noakhali University of Science & Technology and launched postgraduate programs in Information Science and Library Management at National University.
Dr. Nasir earned his B.A. (Honours), M.A. (First Class) and Ph.D. (2011) in Library and Information Science from the University of Dhaka. He began his academic career at the University of Rajshahi in 1997 and became Chairman in 2000. His international recognitions include a Best Research Paper Award (Sri Lanka, 2015), IFLA/ALP scholarship (Thailand), US Fellowship (Boston) and NORAD-funded participation in the IFLA Conference (Oslo, 2005). He has undertaken research, training and academic engagements in the UK, Finland, Malaysia, and Vietnam including leadership roles in World Bank-supported programs.
With over 15 years of consultancy experience with organizations such as UNFPA, WTO-BFTI, MIDAS and PMUK, Dr. Nasir bridges academia and development practice. He has taught a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses and supervised numerous Master’s, MPhil and PhD theses. A prolific scholar with 60+ publications, he served as Chief Editor of the National University Journal (2015–2024) and sits on multiple international editorial boards. He is a former President of the National University Teachers Association (2022–2024), Country Representative of IOCOM and Life Member of the Library Association of Bangladesh.
